St Andrew's Cross Presented by Club's founder and inaugural Club Captain, C.R.Howden, to the Dunedin Golf Club for annual competition on St Andrew's Day. It was first won in 1872 by Mr D.Hood. This is the oldest golfing trophy in the Southern Hemisphere. | The Brunsfield Medal In 1873, Mr W.D. Murison presented the Bruntsfield Medal to the Dunedin Golf Club. It was won by Mr John Thomson, whose name was the first to be engraved on the beautifully worked medallion. The medal is still presented annually to the golfer scoring the best two gross rounds in the 36-hole Club Championship qualifying play. |
The Centennial Medal Presented in 1971 to recognise the Club's founding in 1871. | The Silver Cross The Silver Cross was first played for in 1900 as a monthly competition for players on handicaps of 12 and over. It is now awarded to the top qualifier in the Intermediate Club Championship. |
The Telfer Medal History surrounding The Telfer Medal dates back to 1875. It was presented to the Dunedin Golf Club by a member, Mr John Telfer. It was subsequently won outright by Professor John Shand, one of three of the original professors of the University of Otago. The story ended there until the late 1960’s when the Telfer family donated the medal back to the Club | The Old 1871 Cup The Old 1871 Cup is awarded annually to the Senior Champion of the Club. It was presented to the Dunedin Golf Club by its founding members and was first won in 1872 by J McGregor. |
